Published later this week is a new book about the current state of Britain. It's called GOING SOUTH and it's written by Larry Elliott and Dan Atkinson who both know what they are talking about. They see the country in decline coupled with a persistent unwillingness to face up to the realities of our condition. I'll buy a copy as soon as I can get my hands on one. There's a very sad factor though. John Gunter wrote a similarly perceptive book in the 1930s. I remember reading it in my schooldays. The long and short of it is, we continue to be in denial.
